CHALLENGE

Cime de la Bonette pass is the third highest paved peak in Europe, only behind Veleta and IRAM in Sierra Nevada. While it’s evident that the northern ascent starts in Jausiers, one can argue that if you get a glass ball rolling down from the top of the south side, it will end up in Nice.
The Cime part of Col de la Bonette is a short artificial loop has been added at the end of the pass. Road signs in the area suggests this is the highest paved road in Europe…but it’s not.

It’s a great climb. From Jausiers you get 1,800 vertical meters to gain in scenery that takes breaths away.
